Spring Break

Hello everyone,

I am finally writing again after yet another month of blog hibernation. Gabby has successfully had her first spring break. She spent a couple days with Grandma and Grandpa Moffitt, went to the children's museum on Thursday (fyi - first Thursday of every month is free admission from 4-8), had a picnic at Holliday park and played on the play ground on Saturday, and we had a zoo trip with my parents Sunday.

The weather today was unbelievable. When Ethan went down for his nap I took the opportunity to go outside and pick-up sticks. Tomorrow I plan on raking up the last of the leaves and gum balls that I didn't get to in the fall. My big plan this spring is to overhaul our front flowerbed. It is full of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, lilly of the valley and white hastas. The main problem is the hastas have tippled in size since we moved in and are now starting to choke out the other flowers. I plan to dig up all the flowers and do a re-organization plus divide up the hastas into smaller plants and put some around the big tree in our back yard. Hopefully I won't kill them in the process ;).

I stopped into the printers office today to turn in a couple manuals I finished last week and pick up a new one. I am now on number 5 out of 14. This new manual looks like a lot of charts and forms so it is going to take a little longer than the last two.

Our business (Graphics Garage) is starting to pick up. We have 3 jobs lined up right now and one of the jobs may lead to bigger and better things. I am soo excited. Being the president of a company is so exciting and scary at the same time. My main goal is to get our company office needs organized and a marketable package created.

long time no talk

Wow, It has been almost a month since my last blog. Let's see if I can recap without rambling.

Valentines day was fun. Did the family thing the day of with a fun/fancy dinner at home. I made chocolate fondue. Gabby had fun with it and then we gave the kids some treats. Travis and I did dinner and a movie the following Saturday. We went to my favorite restaurant in the world (Pepe's). My dad introduced me to the place when I was around Gabby's age. I told Travis when we move back to Lafayette it will probably be a monthly dinner date.

Travis's Job moved. He now works in downtown Carmel. It is not too bad, added a few more miles to the drive but not much. We are tyring to get our Graphics business up and running smoothly so he can get out of where he is. Also found an accountant for the business - sigh of relief there.

I'm still doing my contract typing. I just finished the revisions they requested for the first two manuals. Waiting for the third one to come back with any changes and currently working on the fourth manual out of the series.

Kids are doing great. Ethan is approaching the 15 month mark and trying to say a couple more words. The newest ones are ouch and up. Gabby is learning simple addition in school and their classroom just got a bunch of tadpoles so they are tracking their growth and plan to release them in the school nature center when they finish. She finished up her cookie dough fundraiser this past Sunday. She sold 25 tubs. She didn't make her goal of 75 so she could win the ipod but she did try so I think the Easter Bunny may leave her what she wants in her Easter basket. Thanks to all who bought and supported her efforts.

Another Day

Not much to report. My toes are back to a normal skin tone but still tender. had a low key weekend. Went to the Carquest auto show with my parents on Sunday.

Started my third nursing home manual. This will be the most difficult to date. Alot of the pages have already been typed but they are all out of order and all done in different formats. Nothing like cleaning up someone elses work. O'well getting a paycheck is still nice ;). Chat with you guys later

My Poor Toes

Well my weekend was pretty relaxing. Saturday we slept in, didn't do much until late afternoon. We ran a few erronds and signed up for sam's club memberships. Wandered Sam's to see what they had and went home. Sunday was about the same. We went to a business outlet store and bought a used office chair for way cheap. Since I sit at the computer 2-4 hours a day working I needed to find something a little more back friendly than what we had. We picked up some pizza from papa murphy's and headed home to watch the super bowel. Made it to half time of the game and that is when I broke my toes. I watched the half time show and then decided to go to the front window to look outside and see how bad it was raining outside. While on my journey to the front of the house I ramed my left foot into one of our dining room chairs. I heard a pop and felt a shooting pain in my two middle toes. I was holding Ethan so I did everything I could not to pee my pants or drop him. OOH it gets even better. I managed to stub the same toes 15 minutes later in my bedroom on a suitcase that I hadn't put away yet. Sooo when I woke up Monday morning two of my little toes were a nice shade of purple. It has derailed my eliptical workouts but it does give me an excuse to put more time in on the second nursing home manual I have. It is small enough I may be able to finish it in week.

The calm after the storm

Hope everyone made it through the storm last night with out any damage. Around 7:30 last night Gabby was going through her bedtime routine and all of a sudden it sounded like the big bad wolf huffed and puffed and tried to blow our house down. It quickly turned to rain, then hail and ended 15 minutes later. We went from 50 degrees to 20 in the matter of an hour. Travis has a brother who lives in Clermont where they said a possible tornado was sighted so we called them to make sure everything checked out ok with them and it did.

Well during the day yesterday I did the clean the house catch-up game. I had spent a lot of time on my nursing home manual makeing sure I finished by this past monday that I had neglected some to the domestic duties I do so well. Soo I did 5 loads of laundry, swept and mopped a couple rooms and did a couple loads of dishes while still finding time to make dinner/dessert, help Gabby with her homework and keep Ethan entertained. I can't understand why I can't loose any weight since I never seem to stop moving. Anyway I get to tackle the kitchen and bathroom today. Soo now that you know what excitement lies ahead for me I will chat with you guys later.

Oh' how our babies grow up too fast :(

Well, my weekend flew by. Saturday we left home mid-morning to go see Travis's parents. His mom's birthday was Saturday. We stopped by Jake's office so Travis could letter-up his new company car. We visited with him and John (old friend from high school) for a while and then took off toward Waynetown. Spent a good part of the day at the in-laws which was nice and relaxing. Gabby and her cousin's played for hours. Spent the night at my parents (they live all of 5 miles from each other so when you see one you need to see the other, it's only fair). Sunday I worked some more on my nursing home manual. It will be done today and I get to move on to a dietary manual next. I had a great uncle pass away so we went to the viewing for that Sunday afternoon. My mom is a funeral director and owns her own funeral home so that is where the viewing was held. So we still got to visit with my parents. Gabby is use to having a run of the building when we go to the funeral home to see mom but when there are services she has to act like a little lady which can be tough for her. Anyway back to the title of my blog (babies growing up). After we left the services we stopped by my Aunts house to have her cut the kids hair. Got to love family connections. Between Travis and my family there are doctors, lawyers, hair dresser, mechanic, teacher, vet, priest, and funeral director. You are taken care of from the time you enter this world all the way through the end ;). Anyway enough of my rambling. Gabby and Ethan had hair cuts last night. Gabby had about 6 inches taken off to make her hair shoulder length. She looks so cute and grown up with her short hair. Little man (who also is 13 months old today) had his first hair cut. He did really well, no crying or fighting. He just sat on the counter looking in the mirror watching aunt terry. I saved a few hair clippings for his baby book and took about 20 pictures. I have to say he is my little gentleman now. Well I hear Ethan waking up so I will chat later.

Me in a nutshell

Well I have decided to join the blogging world as well. I thought it looked to be good way to stay in touch with friends I don't normally get to talk to often. My life isn't as exciting as most. Let see I am the only surviving child of three. My family is pretty small, my mom is one of three and my dad is one of two. So when I re-met Travis it was bit much for me to take since his mom is one of seven and his dad one of three. The first time I went to a family dinner with him I was terrified. I will have to say I am adjusting well especially since we have been married for seven years. I am a stay-at-home mom now. I used to be career minded, have a job in the fashion industry (visual design) didn't want to think about getting married until 25 and then have 2 kids a few years later. Well I ended up getting engaged at 21, married at 23, mom to one by 24 and mom to two by 29. I did the fashion world for a while and got tired of dealing with the superficial side of the business and no consideration for people with families and lives outside of their work. Anyway about my kids... Gabby is 6 and in kindergarten. She is my wild child. She dresses wild and acts wild (if it is brightly colored or has an outrageous print) she wears it mixed together. She asked me the other day how much longer she had to go to school and I had to laugh. I said this is just the beginning and to expect at least another 12-16 years. She thought I was telling her a joke. Ethan is my "little man". He is the only grandson and the youngest so he doesn't get spoiled at all. He terrorizes the cats, thinks Gabby is the greatest thing since sliced bread and is a cuddler. He loves soft/fuzzy blankets and his big teddy bear he got from Santa. Travis is my hubby who I don't get to see much of lately. He normally works 10-12 hour days doing graphic design. He gets home in enough time to tuck Gabby into bed, read her a story and fall asleep next to her. I left my job last June to stay at home with Ethan. Between the cost of school and daycare I was loosing money by working....how sad is that. Anyway I have lucked out and found work that I can do from home. I spend a few hours a day turning typed nursing home procedure manuals into electronic format. I know it sounds sooo exciting but it isn't a bad deal. I type up the material, email it to the company along with the hours I worked and they mail me a check. If everything goes well I will have a years worth of work. Well Gabby will be home from school soon so I will chat some more later.
